MSG ATTACHMENT EXTRACTOR

Extract attachments from an Outlook MSG file

An Outlook .MSG file can package documents, images and even other complete email messages inside one saved message. MSG Opener lists the attachments it finds and lets you save them without installing Microsoft Outlook or uploading the email to a conversion service.

How to extract an attachment

  1. Open the MSG file in the main viewer.
  2. Scroll to the Attachments section beneath the message body.
  3. Select Download beside the file you need.
  4. When several ordinary files are present, use Download all if that option is available.

Attached Outlook emails are different

An attachment can itself be another MSG message. In that case, MSG Opener can show a View message control so you can inspect the attached email and its own attachments before deciding what to save. A navigation trail lets you return to the parent message.

What is preserved

Ordinary attachments are downloaded as their original file data when the MSG structure exposes them correctly. The viewer also shows filenames and file sizes when available. Saving the message itself as TXT, sanitized HTML or PDF is a separate function and does not embed the original attachment files into those exports.

Handle downloaded files cautiously

Extracting a file does not make it safe. Documents, archives and executables attached to email can still contain harmful content. Only open attachments you trust and use current security software or your organization’s normal review process when appropriate.
